Introduction

Importing external events does copy the event information from an external calendar like Google calendar or a CSV file into DPCalendar. This means that the relation to the external event is lost and the new event is a native DPCalendar event. For every external calendar a new calendar in DPCalendar is created where the events are stored.

Importing events is mostly used when a site admin wants to migrate event data from a legacy system like JCalPro, JEvents or RSEvents to DPCalendar.

Import process

The first thing you have to do is to properly configure the external calendar plugin you want to import the events from. Set caching to never in the plugin configuration to make sure you are importing the live data. After that, open the import page in the back end which is located at Components -> DPCalendar -> Tools -> Import and follow the steps below.

  1. Define an optional search filter.
  2. Define the date range.
  3. Select the external calendars you want to import by ticking the checkbox.
  4. Click the import button.

After these steps you should see an information message on the top which tells you how many events are imported and how many are updated.
