In the February 2025 release window we built a brand new DPMedia gallery module which shows your images from the core Joomla media manager on the front end for any adapter like Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud.

Following our established release strategy, we are excited to announce a new feature version of DPCalendar and DPMedia, as it is the fourth Thursday of the month. Today, we are releasing the following updates:

The next chapters are highlighting some of the most important changes in this release window.

DPMedia: Gallery module

DPMedia extended the existing core media manager with more adapters, context plugins and editing plugins. The new free gallery module is the first extension which exposes media data in a module position to the front end. It supports for different layouts and impresses with a fast loading time by utilizing of the DPMedia adapter caching feature, tiny JS footprint and lazy loading images.

The default layout does show the images in a grid with the thumbnail url, similar to the media manager itself, but without the folders. Clicking on the image, then it opens in fullscreen mode with the regular image. It is possible then to navigate between the images and to download the original one. The images itself are loaded infinitely, means when the vistior does scroll down to the bottom of the module, then it automatically loads the next batch of images. The masonry layout works the same way as the default one, but loads the images in columns and not a grid. The slider module is a modern slider, with all the modern slide features like touch navigation and also lazy loading and infinite image loading.

The only limitation it has, it does only run on Joomla 5.2 and upwards as it uses the new media manager select folder feature. More information can be found in theĀ module documentation.

DPCalendar: QR code images in payment plugin

The DPCalendar payment plugin is able to generate Swiss QR code invoices, which are pretty much the standard in Switzerland nowadays. With the new release it is possible to upload any QR code image which will then be sent with the invoice. Like that it is possible to link to an url of a specific payment provider or to use QR code based services like what we have in Switzerland with Twint.

More information can be found in the Qr code plugin documentation.

DPCalendar: More options

DPCalendar is already very configurable, but there is still some room for more in to reduce the need of layout overrides. DPCalendar 10.2 comes with more options like a text before and after the module or to show the booking options without the tickets.

More information can be found in the modules documentation.

Bugfixes and more

We are eager to improve our extensions on a regular basis. That's why every major/feature release does contain also bug fixes and small enhancements as well to improve the stability and performance.

What makes us also very happy that we could collaborate with the JoomGalleryfriends friends to make DPMedia fully compatible with this awesome gallery extension.

A full changelog is added in the respective download release description on our download site.

Kind regards
